Mission Statement
RainDanceNYC is a social network dedicated to instigating social change through connection and action.
A Primal Call To Action
RainDanceNYC is more than the most exciting social network with the best DJ parties you’ve been to. It’s a primal call to action. We’re using every trick we’ve got – connecting networks, data mining, email blasts – to mobilize our community. Global_Rain_Dance makes social action part of your lifestyle. You don’t need to be a full time philanthropist to make a difference. RainDanceNYC invites you to unite, celebrate, change.
Unite
We’re creating a dynamic online community to mobilize the socially conscious urban dwellers. Leveraging the power-to-connect of resources like MySpace and Friendster and aSmallWorld, RainDanceNYC brings together the vibrant change-makers – young tuned-in professionals who are hip to global issues and local happenings. Through outreach, networking, and refining our information, RainDanceNYC unites professionals, creatives, and artists of the downtown mindset for the purpose of effecting Change.
Celebrate
We call these social agents together at RainDanceNYC parties that raise spirits, raise awareness and raise funds. A RainDanceNYC party is a night of dancing and celebration, with the best underground dance music and the sophisticated vibe that urban dwellers seek. It’s also the best way we know to get hundreds of like-minded music lovers and dancers, with social awareness in the same place at the
same time.
Change
RainDanceNYC harnesses the power of our people with lightning-fast responses to urgent causes. At a most recent RainDanceNYC party we raised money for a 3-year-old girl with brain cancer. Her parents are out of cash. They turned to RainDanceNYC for help. In 3 days we rallied 600+ socially conscious New Yorkers to gather for this family in need. We raised over $6,000 at our 5 hour event all from voluntary donations from our guests.
Roland Peralta, has created parties with a purpose before and knows that they work. In 2004 he collaborated with the Innocence Project to raise money for Tony Williams, a man who was wrongfully convicted, jailed, exonerate, and finally released with only ten dollars to his name and no living family. Through collaboration between the Innocence Project he helped raise $4500 to help Tony start his new life as a free man, and restored his faith in humanity. In 2000 a similar fund-raising effort raised over $32,000 in an 11 day period with 5 organizers for Fabrizio to help pay for a bone marrow transplant. He is alive and well living in Seattle today.
